A Quilled Poinsettia

This is a really simple but effective Christmas design in quilling. The stunning deep red of the poinsettia is accented by the guilt edging.

Baby's First Christmas

These babies first Christmas ornaments are made of birch wood and have been painted with acrylic paints.  They can be customised with words and colours of your choice.  You can also choose the ribbon colour to coordinate.  The back of the ornament is glitter varnished to add a sparkle.

Make Your Own Glitter Glue

This morning I have spent time playing with glitter.  The room is sparkling, my key board is glittering and I am twinkling like a Christmas fairy.  I have got it all over the place.

I've been experimenting with glitter glue.  Initially I used a branded product, but the slow drying time was annoying, so I thought I's try some alternatives.

The first was cheep glitter nail polish.  this worked well, but was smelly and on a wet miserable windy day, I don't really want to have to have the door open.  Sparkle was really good though.

The next thing I tried was making my own.  I tipped fine glitter into PVA glue and mixed, then applied.  My initial thoughts were oh heck as it goes on white and the sparkle is concealed, but within a few minutes the glue had dried and the sparkle was even, stable and very sparkly.  So that's what I shall be doing in the future.

Christmas for free!

My heart weeps when I read about people feeling stressed because of Christmas.   The pressure that exists through the media, friends, families and ourselves to have a commercial Christmas.
Why put yourself into debt?
Would you want a someone running up a debt to buy you a gift?  I know I wouldn't!
With the benefit cuts, the credit crunch and money not going as far as it did, I urge people to stay well with in your means.  There are so many things you can do for very little and in some cases nothing.
"Let Santa be the only one in the red this year!"
The first Christmas was done on the cheap,  A baby born to refugee parents in a shed wrapped in rags but a joy and a light to the whole world!
I hope to bring you some very low cost and free ideas for Christmas decorations, fun and gifts in the blog on the run up to Christmas.
